On October 20, 2026, the Institute of Education, Heritage and Tourism (IETT) began field practice with young people in the area, as part of the project to empower the Zadrima community in providing tourism services and interpreting cultural heritage.
Together with the young people, we explored the Church of St. Mary of Vau i Dejës, the Artisan Center, and the lake shore, where boat trips to the island of Shurdhahu and the ruins of medieval Sarda begin. We also visited the industrial sites of the area, the olive oil factory, and the wine and cider cellar in Hajmel, where we got to know local products up close.
The area's itineraries are starting to come to life. Heritage, nature, crafts and traditional products are coming together in an authentic and sustainable tourist offer, built together with the community itself.
The project "Empowering the Zadrima Community in the Provision of Tourism Services and Interpretation of Cultural Heritage" is funded by the Albanian Besa Capital Foundation and implemented by IETT Albania.
