Within the framework of the 2025 grants program, the Albanian Besa Capital Foundation (ABC) has made a significant contribution to promoting and strengthening female entrepreneurship oriented towards social business, by supporting projects that directly impact the improvement of the social and economic status of women in Albania.
One of the winning projects for this field is “ART TOURISM”, which is being implemented in the Kukës region by the National Association for Integration, Development and Assistance to the Needy "SH.KIZH". This project aims to train and empower 15 women artisans from the municipalities of Kukës, Has and Tropojë, to turn traditional handicrafts into a sustainable source of income and a means of self-employment.
The importance of support from ABC:
The ABC Foundation's financial support for this project represents not only an investment in women's capacities, but also a sustainable strategy to develop the social economy in the most marginalized areas of the country. Through this support:
• Strengthen the role of women as active social entrepreneurs;
• Albanian cultural and artisanal heritage is promoted and preserved;
• Assists in the development of artisanal tourism as part of a sustainable local economy.
Project impact:
Women participating in the implementation of the project gain new professional skills in the field of handicrafts, increase their management and entrepreneurial skills in business, self-confidence, create cooperation networks and overcome economic isolation. The local community benefits from the revitalization of the handicraft tradition, while tourists enrich their cultural experience in the region. This project serves as a model for increasing women's economic independence through alternative forms of development, in line with the strategic priorities of the Albanian Besa Capital Foundation.
