Dear friends, entrepreneurs and partners,

Albanian private entrepreneurship and the community have always been at the center of what we do.

I am pleased to inform you that Albanian Besa Capital Foundation (ABC Foundation) is an institution established in 2008 as a non-profit organization, which operates as a mechanism in support of private entrepreneurship, especially small and medium-sized businesses in Albania.

After the fall of the communist regime, one of the biggest challenges for Albania was the transition from a centralized economy to a free market economy. In this context, the ABC Foundation was created as a response to the need of the business community for the continuous growth of technical and managerial capacities, as well as for active involvement in development initiatives and projects carried out in partnership with various actors in the service of entrepreneurship.

The ABC Foundation also aims to harmonize the growing capacities of private entrepreneurship in Albania with the initiatives of public and private, economic and financial institutions, in support of business development. The creation and functioning of the ABC Foundation became a reality at an important institutional moment for BESA Fund sh.a., which successfully completed the transformation process into a joint-stock company. In this context, the ABC Foundation continues to be an active supporter and promoter of the development of technical and financial activities harmonized with the BESA Fund sh.a. and the microfinance system in the country.

Since 2010, the ABC Foundation has undertaken and implemented a series of initiatives in support of private entrepreneurship, business and Albanian civil society. Through this website and other transparent information mechanisms, programs and projects are periodically promoted and offered, from which civil society organizations, Albanian entrepreneurs and the business community benefit, in the form of grants and/or co-financing. These initiatives are oriented towards addressing the concrete needs of private or public organizations and entities.

Since capacity building is an essential factor for economic development, the ABC Foundation undertakes various initiatives through meetings, trainings, consultancies and research studies. Through them, important issues for the business community are addressed, such as:

• increasing cooperation between the business community and the microfinance system;

• identifying and addressing the challenges faced by business in the context of crises and economic developments;

• analysis of current and prospective needs of Albanian entrepreneurship;

• production of sectoral studies and analyses guiding business development.

Dear friends, entrepreneurs and partners, throughout its activity, the ABC Foundation has been guided by its social mission to promote and support local entrepreneurship, civil society and groups in need.
